Oklahoma Heart Research & Education Foundation was founded in 1995 by the physicians of Oklahoma Heart Institute. Its purpose is to further clinical research in the areas related to cardiovascular disease. Those areas specifically include interventional cardiology, non-interventional cardiovascular imaging, wellness and healthy lifestyle, diabetes management, lipid management, and sleep management.
The foundation also embraces continuing education of regional healthcare providers. Several symposia are presented throughout the year. They include the Spring Update in Cardiology geared toward the needs of the practicing physician related to advances in cardiovascular care, the Fall Update in Cardiology focusing on the needs of nurses and mid-level providers, and the Electrophysiology Symposium which presents cutting edge advances and practices in the cardiology subspecialty area of electrophysiology.
